Dogtoberfest

October is National Adopt-A-Dog month. To commemorate, Animal Haven is sponsoring "Dogtoberfest", an adopt-a-thon this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, (Oct. 23-25) at their shelter located in Merriam, KS. The hours of adoption are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Animal Haven, a non-profit organization, is Kansas City’s largest no-kill shelter and is currently busting at its seams with well over 400 adoptable pets available. Potential pet owners are invited to the shelter to meet these loveable animals in need of good homes.

Adoptions fees for this event are just $25 for cats and $50 for dogs. Additionally, Animal Haven will gladly welcome the following donations at the event to help keep their costs down and the animals well cared for.

• Cat litter (not scoopable).
• Dog collars and leashes of all sizes.
• Dog chews and treats.
• Bleach.
• Paper towels.
• Bath towels.
• Copy paper (white or color).
• Cardboard soda or beer flats.
• 55-gallon garbage bags.
• Hand soap.
• Hand sanitizer.

KC PetConnect is a strong supporter of Animal Haven and their on-going quest for animal welfare. "Dogtoberfest" is an outstanding undertaking which the community greatly benefits from; we salute them.

So mark your calendar for October 23rd, 24th and 25th. Tell your friends, pack up a small donation and come on by… you just might find your new best friend!

to the brand new KC PetConnect Blog.

Our blog is different from our website in that its intent is to inform, educate and entertain. The KCPC website is dedicated to finding lost pets; this blog is where we can have some fun and share information.

It is a place where you can find out about the latest goings-on in the area such as the “Crawl for Critter’s” benefiting Wayside Waif’s later this month. Or the magnificent and Free local pet magazine, MetroPet which we blogged about last month. We will post heart-warming stories to share with you, and it’s doubtful we will be able to resist an occasional photograph of our furry little friends! Perhaps we’ll have a photo-contest from time to time; this blog is a work in progress, it will be exciting to see where it goes!

We encourage you to leave comments at the end of our posts; interaction always makes for a more informative blog. If you have a topic you’d like us to cover or an event coming up that is pet friendly, shoot us an email at Chris@KCPetConnect.com ,we’ll do our best to cover or include it.

KC PetConnect is proud and thrilled to be featured in the September issue of Metro Pet Magazine. Metro Pet is a free magazine for pet lovers in Kansas City. It comes out monthly and is a high quality, full-color magazine printed on gloss stock. This magazine is beautiful and each month it is a treat to find out who will grace the cover. Metro Pet Magazine is marketed by ROI Marketing Services, a Kansas City publisher.

Metro Pet also offers an awesome website offering links to local advertisers, humane/shelter groups, a monthly pet-photo contest, upcoming pet friendly and inclusive events, and this month, drum roll please… a feature article on KC PetConnect!

Metro Pet is free to you because it is compensated by advertisers which this month includes KC PetConnect’s maiden ad! We think its fun and whimsical yet spot on in its message. The good folks at Metro Pet designed it for us, exhibiting great patience with our every change order, the last one being “oh so close” to our print deadline. Thanks to Barbara, Dan and their highly talented graphic designer Alison!
